Course Introduction:
Congratulations on taking the first step to becoming more present in your daily life. If you’re confused as to exactly what mindfulness is, I define it as being intentional with your thoughts and subsequent behaviours. Interestingly, 90% of our actions are dictated by the subconscious mind so practicing mindfulness using the tips learned in this programme will help you to stop living your life on autopilot. It will also help you to tune in with your authentic self by gaining a new perspective.
I have been practicing mindfulness for over 5 years – it’s helped me to understand who I am at my core and find harmony between my mind, body & soul. My view of the world has changed since practicing mindfulness as, despite external factors, I’m able to control my thoughts and emotions. Realising that everything we do comes from within has led to better treatment of myself, and others around me. Mindfulness has genuine transformative power, I’ve no doubt this programme will surprise you.
The programme works by combining seven steps which build the foundation for you to feel more connected with yourself, regulate your state of mind and to be more appreciative of life. I will talk you through each stage of the programme to make it as simple and effective for you as possible but please use this workbook to help you to fully understand each step and partake in the corresponding activities. You cannot unlock the next step without completing the previous one so think of this as a little challenge for yourself and your mind.
You’ll notice that each step in this programme includes something I call a “mind hack” – these are quick and simple tips that may help you. I use this term because, like a computer, the brain can quite literally be hacked, re-wired and re-programmed to control the structure of our thoughts.
To get the most out of this course, please make it manageable for yourself so that it fits around your daily life. As there are a total of seven steps, I recommend you focus on one per day, scheduling around one hour a day to dedicate to your ESC Mindfulness journey. This will make the programme digestible and memorable enough for you. If that sounds like too much, spread the steps out to every other day and see how you get on. The most important thing is don’t rush and do it at your own pace. Don’t forget, once you have unlocked all the steps in this course, the information will be available to you indefinitely for you to come back to whenever you fall off track. This document can also be printed if you find it easier to fill it in by hand.
Good luck & enjoy!
